Wed. evening, 9/9: Student off-campus logins down
As of 5:30 Wed. evening, students are not able to login to off-campus databases through the library’s EZproxy server because the SWOSU student webmail server is down. EZproxy uses the student webmail server to check that the person logging in remotely is a SWOSU student. If the student webmail server goes down, EZproxy can’t authenticate the student into the library’s databases.
As a temporary workaround, I’ve put a list of temporary IDs at the Reference Desk. The temporary IDs will let students login from off-campus. The student will need to type the temporary ID into the faculty/staff login box on the EZproxy login page.
Faculty, staff, and pharmacy preceptors off-campus logins are working normally and are not affected by this problem.
Jon W.
P.S. Desire2Learn is also down this evening. D2L doesn’t have any impact on the library’s servers, but we may get questions from students about the outage. ITS is working on getting D2L and student webmail back in service.

Meebo Notifier troubleshooting
You can confirm that Meebo is working when you’re at the Reference Desk by browsing to the Ask a Librarian web page, clicking the Meebo link, and sending an IM to yourself.
The Meebo Notifier will pop-up an alert in the Windows tray if Meebo is working correctly. If you don't see the Notifier alert:
- Check that Meebo Notifier is signed in. If the Notifier shortcut in the Windows tray is grayed out, right-click the shortcut and select "Sign on."
- If the Notifier shortcut isn't running, double-click the Meebo Notifier shortcut on the Windows desktop.

Text a Librarian Settings
As an administrative function, I have made sure that all of the time settings have been changed for each of you. When I updated the settings through my user id, I thought it updated the settings for the program, so I could not identify the problem. Thanks to Erin, we are now all working with Central Time.
