APA Publication Manual
With all of the mistakes in the new 6th edition, APA has finally decided to provide new copies to those who purchased the defective publication. Linda has returned our copy to Midwest, and we will be receiving a revised copy of the book. That's why it is missing from Ready Reference. I don't know how long it will be before the revised publication will be sent to us. In the meantime, I have bookmarked the link to the APA Publication Manual. On Firefox, the link appears on the toolbar. On IE, the link appears on the Favorites bar. It is titled "Publication Manual."

HP Color Printer Toner Cartridge Recycling
When you replace a toner cartridge in the HP color laser printer at the Reference Desk, please recycle the empty cartridge.
Genuine HP toner cartridges in the blue and white boxes come with a prepaid return shipping label in the box. Seal the box (read the instructions on the box -- no tape required), stick on the shipping label, and put the box in the outgoing mail.
The Premier toner cartridges for the HP color laser can also be recycled. Tape the box shut, print a return label (see below), and tape the label to the top of the box. There's packing tape by the fax machine in the break area.
For your convenience, I've created a shipping label and put it in the My Documents folder. Look for the file called "toner-cartridge-return-shipping-label.docx." If you can't locate the file, here's the return address to use:
Cartridge Return Center
315 Weakley Road
Calexico, CA 92231-9953
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Jon W.
P.S. The Kyocera toner cartridges for the public printer aren't made to be recycled. Put the empty Kyocera cartridges in the trash barrel outside the janitor's storage closet.
[Update 11/5/09]
If a Genuine HP blue box doesn't have a pre-paid shipping label inside, follow the instructions above for sending the used cartridge to the Cartridge Return Center address.

APA Publication Manual - 6th ed.
The latest version of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is loaded with errors that should have been corrected through the editing process. I received a list of errors and have made the corrections in the Reference Desk copy of the book.

Pharmacy Preceptor Off-Campus Logins
Pharmacy preceptors are pharmacists working in retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, etc. who assist in the training of SWOSU pharmacy students.
Preceptors have off-campus access to the library's databases. Preceptors' library logins are their last names, followed by a 3-or-4 digit EMS number. (For example, a preceptor named Smith might use smith123 as her login.) Preceptors type their library login into the off-campus login box for faculty.
When preceptors contact the library about their library login, do the following:
1. Write down the preceptor's first and last name.
2. Write down the preceptor's phone number and/or email address.
3. Email this information to me at jonathan.woltz@swosu.edu.
I'll contact the preceptor as quickly as possible and help them with their library login.
